You can create up to 5,000 teams. To take advantage of this feature, create a CSV document that includes the list of all Teams to be created, specify the Team’s parent, and give a description.
To get started click on the “Team” tab in DealerPeople University (DPU) and select the “Import Teams in bulk” option.
Building your CSV File
If you’re not sure how to create CSV file you can click on the “use this template to get started” link to download a sample template. To edit your CSV file we recommend using text editor like Notepad or a spreadsheet tool like Excel.
Each Team requires the "Team Name" column to be filled out. Parent name, Parent code, and Description columns are optional. See below for more details.
Team Name: This will be the name of the newly created team
Parent Name: If the Parent team is also being created in the same spreadsheet, identify who the parent team will be to create a Team structure. This must be a unique Team name and must be listed before the child team in the same spreadsheet. If the name is not unique use the Parent Code (see below).
Parent Code: If a Parent Name is not unique, the Team Code can be used to identify the parent team. The parent team must exist in the account prior to the import and can be found in the Teams > Team Name > Settings by viewing the Bulk import code in the yellow box.
Description: This text will be entered in the Description field for the Team.
Note:Parent Name and Parent Code have essentially the same purpose. However, the will be used in two different situations. If the Parent Team will be entered into DPU in the same spreadsheet as the Child team, use the Parent Name.
Importing and Mapping the Fields
Once the file has been created, it is ready for upload. To upload the CSV document:
- If you have not already, navigate to Teams > Import Teams in bulk.
- Select "Choose File", select the CSV file, and click "Next"
- Map the Columns to the appropriate fields and select "Import"
Note: Bulk Importing Teams cannot be reversed. For this reason, we recommend doing a test import and reviewing the import before doing an import of a large number of teams.
